Students at Wardle Academy celebrating their results
Several Wardle Academy students achieved above and beyond their expectations in their GCSEs.
The school has seen significant improvements in recent months, receiving a very positive HMI report in March this year and this year’s GCSE results reflect these improvements.
Alfie Durkin achieved 10 A* to C including three A*s and three As.
Head Girl, Niamh Roche achieved 10 A*- C including five A*s and four As. Niamh will be moving on to study at Holy Cross College.
Joe Logan achieved seven A*- C. Joe has been offered two college places and an apprenticeship.
Harry Tait, who achieved a 9 in the new maths grade criteria, received a total of 10 A*- C, including four A*s.
Ala Saadoon said, “I have been in the UK for three years and I had to learn English. In one year at Wardle Academy, I started speaking English. I also passed my exams and I am going to Rochdale Sixth Form College.”
Headteacher Carole Fisher said: “I am delighted that our GCSE results have improved again this year.
"In spite of all the changes to GCSEs, our students have performed really well with excellent results in English, maths and many other subjects along with some absolutely outstanding performances from students in individual subjects.
"It was also very pleasing to see a good number of our students achieving the new grade 9 in English and maths.
"We are extremely proud of all of our Year 11 students and wish them the best of luck as they continue their studies."
