Rochdale Council are looking to recruit an Adult Care Business Admin Apprentice.

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB

To work in various Rochdale Council Adult Care services in a range of functions.

To complete an agreed Apprenticeship qualification.

To gain work skills and experience to help the participant increase their confidence and experience and enable them to apply for various types of social care employment on completion of the apprenticeship.

To contribute to providing the best service possible to the people of the Borough of Rochdale in accordance with council policies and procedures.

Control of Resources

Personnel
To be self motivated and able to manage own workload and training responsibilities.

Financial
To work in accordance with the financial regulations and procedures of the Authority.

Equipment/Materials
To be responsible for the safe use and maintenance of equipment/furniture/materials as used by self.

Health/Safety/Welfare
Responsible for the health, safety and welfare of self and others in accordance with Council Policies and procedures.

Training and Development
To take responsibility for identifying training and development needs in conjunction with placement managers and training providers. To take responsibility for attending training sessions and producing the required assignments.

Managers and officers within any service or business partnership of the Council, elected members and trade union officials

External
Partner agency colleagues, community and voluntary organisation staff, members of the public, training providers and suppliers of goods and services.

The postholder must –

Principal Duties
1 To learn to be responsible for providing efficient and effective business and customer service support to respond to service specific needs including:
•Using IT packages for word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
•Servicing meetings
•Organising and servicing events
•Dealing with customer requirements in a courteous and professional manner, taking advice from the supervisor when appropriate.
•Postal duties
•Photocopying and collating documents
•Taking telephone messages
•Making telephone calls under direction
•Inputting data onto computer systems
•To learn how to produce accurate minutes
•Assisting with financial processing
•Administering correspondence
•Identifying and rectifying data quality issues
•Producing and analysing data for decision making.

Secondary Duties
1.To attend training and work to achieve the agreed qualifications.
2.To be familiar with a range of IT systems.
3.To ensure the effective use of office equipment and machinery and to make use of such facilities.
4.To assist when required in activities to promote and publicise apprenticeships within the Council.
5.To participate in council programmes of in-service training as a trainee.
6.To adhere to RBCs Confidentiality Policy
7.To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined by the Head of Service (or nominated representative) in consultation with the apprentice and if she/he wishes with her/his trade union representative.

Qualifications required
Have or expect to achieve 5 GCSEs grade A-C including English and Maths or equivalent

Evidence of a good standard of literacy and numeracy

Applicants must live within the boundaries of Rochdale Borough.

This apprenticeship vacancy is for candidates aged 16-24 years as per the criteria for government funding.
