A charity wine tasting evening hosted by local wine merchant Vini Veneti has raised thousands of pounds for Springhill Hospice, bringing together community spirit, fine wines and generous local support.

The event, held on Friday 3 October in the Whitworth Lounge at Littleborough Cricket Club, saw guests enjoy a selection of wines specially chosen by the Vini Veneti team while supporting a cause close to many in the area.

Even before sponsorship and ticket sales were counted, the evening had already raised over £1,000, with the total expected to exceed £3,000 once all donations are finalised.

Vini Veneti thanked PDS Doorsets for organising the event, and expressed gratitude to event sponsors Garrards Timber Merchants, UAP, and Teknos Paint. A host of local businesses also contributed by donating raffle prizes ranging from restaurant vouchers and hampers to beauty treatments and even a woodworking set from Rothwells of Rochdale.

Special thanks went to Littleborough Cricket Club for allowing the use of the venue free of charge in support of the hospice, and to Steve and Steph Clegg for their help setting up the room and keeping the event running smoothly.

“The cricket club is a fantastic community hub and a real supporter of Springhill Hospice,” said a spokesperson from Vini Veneti. “We’re proud to be involved in events like this, when everyone comes together to raise funds for such a worthy charity.”

The evening was part of Vini Veneti’s ongoing commitment to community engagement. The independent wine merchant specialises in high-quality Italian wines and prides itself on sharing a passion for regional authenticity and craftsmanship.

With the event’s success and enthusiastic feedback from attendees, Vini Veneti has already confirmed:

“We can’t wait to do it all again next year!”
