Littleborough woman launches new maternity discount membership

The Mothershift, a new membership platform offering those who are pregnant and on maternity leave discounts across Greater Manchester is now live.

With three quarters of mums admitting to feeling ‘invisible’¹, the platform was founded after mum-of-three Danielle Stott spotted a gap in the market for additional support that directly targets new mums.

Over 40 businesses have signed up to the scheme across Manchester, including multiple in Littleborough and Rochdale, with new sign ups taking place every day.

Olive and Pickle, Gladwins and Star Tree Studio are amongst the founding partners, all offering exclusive discounts for Mothershift members.

In other suburbs, there are numerous cafes and restaurants who have also pledged on to the scheme, from the popular Hive Bakehouse in Westhoughton to Sticky Fingers in Stockport.

Other businesses already signed up include Diggle Roasters, Boxx2Boxx in Wythenshawe, Buzzy Bee Bakery and Michael’s Coffee house in the city centre, and Willa & Bo jewellery.

Danielle Stott, founder of The Mothershift, said: “After three maternity leaves I couldn’t shake the thought that women on mat leave deserve more.

“Having a baby is undoubtedly the most incredible time, but it’s easy to forget that mums are people with goals, passions and identities too. It’s a complete life shift that deserves much more support, which is why I decided to launch The Mothershift.

“We want to ensure everyone who is on maternity leave has access to local perks that help put them first, not just the baby, so we’re calling on any businesses who are interested in supporting the cause to get in touch.”

Memberships are currently a one-time cost of £12.50 and are valid upon receiving the MATB1 or maternity exemption form at approximately 20 weeks pregnant through to 12 months after the baby’s due date.

Those on adoption leave are also eligible and can sign up using their adoption matching certificate.

Those eligible can sign up at www.themothershift.co.uk, and will receive access to a digital card that sits in the phone wallet for use in store, or discount codes to be redeemed online.

Businesses interested in signing up can also submit their information on the Mothershift website, or DM on Instagram.
