Littleborough Band Launches Fundraising Appeal Ahead of National Championships
Littleborough Band is appealing for support as it prepares to represent the region at the National Brass Band Championships in York this September.
With the Third Section National Finals taking place at the York Barbican on Sunday 20 September, the band is working hard in rehearsal to ensure it is ready for one of the most important events in the brass band calendar.
The band will perform Snow Island, a challenging and evocative work by acclaimed composer Thierry Deleruyelle. The piece was originally commissioned for the 2024 Cantonal Festival in the Swiss canton of Valais and celebrates the rich musical traditions of the resort villages of Crans-Montana. Inspired by the dramatic alpine landscape overlooking the Rhône Valley, the music captures the excitement, beauty and grandeur of a renowned winter destination.
Preparing for a national competition requires a significant commitment of both time and resources. In addition to regular rehearsals, Littleborough Band faces a range of expenses including coach travel to York, contest entry fees, sheet music costs and additional rehearsal sessions.
To help cover these costs, the band has launched a fundraising campaign and is encouraging supporters, friends and members of the local community to contribute. Every donation, regardless of size, will help the band continue its preparations and ensure it can compete at its best on the national stage.
