Littleborough Players Take on 12-Hour Darts Marathon for Macmillan
Two Littleborough darts players spent 12 hours at the oche on Friday (28 August) as they took part in the Macmillan Darts Marathon, raising money and awareness for people living with cancer.
Paul Chadwick and Nathan Taylor took on the challenge at the Peel Street Club in Littleborough, throwing darts from 11am until 11pm in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. The pair set themselves a fundraising target of £500.
The marathon is part of Macmillan's nationwide effort to encourage more men to talk openly about cancer and seek support when they need it. Men account for more than half of all new cancer cases, yet many are less likely than women to ask for help or discuss their diagnosis.
Throughout the day, supporters were invited to donate while cheering on the players as they completed the gruelling 12-hour challenge.
Macmillan Cancer Support says the Darts Marathon is about more than fundraising. The initiative aims to get men talking about cancer "one throw at a time", helping to break down barriers that can prevent people from seeking advice, emotional support and practical assistance.
Funds raised will help Macmillan continue providing services for people affected by cancer, including information and guidance, financial support and access to communities of people facing similar experiences.
Speaking about the campaign, Macmillan highlighted the importance of ensuring that men know they do not have to face cancer alone and that support is available at every stage of their journey.
Anyone wishing to support Paul and Nathan's efforts can still make a donation through their Macmillan Darts Marathon fundraising page.
