Thimbles Closes After 40 Years

Littleborough is saying goodbye to a familiar local business today as Thimbles Haberdashery closes its doors for the final time after 40 years of trading.

The popular independent shop, located on Hare Hill Road, has been serving generations of customers with a wide range of wool, sewing materials and craft supplies, while also providing garment alteration services.

Owner Siouxsie Hampson has decided to retire, bringing an end to four decades in business.

Although many residents associate the business with Littleborough, Thimbles originally operated in Milnrow before relocating to Littleborough in 2011. Since then, it has become a valued part of our independent retail community, supporting local crafters, knitters and sewing enthusiasts.

The closure marks the end of an era for the business and its loyal customers, many of whom have relied on Thimbles for specialist supplies and expert advice over the years.

As Thimbles closes for the last time, we would like to wish Siouxsie a long and happy retirement.
