Littleborough RUFC’s U16s squad is gearing up for a fundraising challenge like no other, as the players prepare to walk non-stop for 24 hours around Hollingworth Lake this October.

The team aims to collectively cover over 700 kilometres – the equivalent of walking from Littleborough to Twickenham and back – with players taking turns in shifts to ensure the walk continues around the clock. The event kicks off on Thursday 3rd October and will test both the stamina and spirit of the young squad.

Team Captain, Noah Caulfield, said:

“We’re really excited to take on this challenge as a team. Walking the distance to Twickenham and back in just 24 hours won’t be easy, but it’s a chance to push ourselves and show what we can do together.”

The ambitious fundraiser will support the U16s squad by providing vital funds for equipment, development, and opportunities that help the players grow on and off the pitch.

Team Manager, Lauren Harris, praised the effort and determination the boys have shown:

“The boys have shown huge commitment in preparing for this challenge, and taking on the distance to Twickenham and back in just 24 hours is no small task. This event is a brilliant way to bring the team together and highlight the spirit of our club. We’re really grateful for any support people can give.”

Coach Kevin Harris added that the challenge reflects the team’s character and resilience:

“This is an amazing challenge for our young players. It’s a real test of teamwork and resilience, and it’s fantastic to see them so committed. Every penny raised will make a huge difference to the squad.”

The club is encouraging the local community to come down to Hollingworth Lake during the event to cheer the players on and show their support.
