Mark your calendars for Saturday, 13 September, when the doors of St Andrew’s Church in Dearnley, Littleborough, will be thrown open for a special Heritage Open Day. From 10 am to 5 pm, the event promises a rewarding mix of historical exploration, community connection, and musical delight - free and open to all

For anyone curious about their heritage, helpful volunteers will be on hand to guide visitors through the church’s archives. Whether you're tracing births, weddings, or deaths, this is a rare opportunity to search parish records and uncover personal links to the past

As you explore, drop in for a floral demonstration that brings a graceful touch of artistry to the day. Plus, test your knowledge or simply enjoy a bit of fun with a heritage-themed quiz. And if you grow peckish, refreshments will be available all day to keep you energized

One of the day’s highlight attractions invites children and adults alike to step into choir robes and join the choir, even if you've never sung before. From noon until 3:30 pm, participants can learn hymns and songs in a friendly, no-pressure setting. Then at 4 pm, all will come together for an uplifting Evensong performance - a beautiful finale to a day filled with heritage and harmony

Offering an enriching mix of history, creativity, music, and hospitality, the Heritage Open Day at St Andrew’s invites everyone to explore, sing, and connect.
