The Great British Pub Crawl tours Littleborough’s finest watering holes
Littleborough’s thriving pub scene took centre stage on 27th September as Dale from The Great British Pub Crawl paid a visit to the village - sampling everything from traditional inns to trendy bars during a full day of local hospitality.
Fresh from a recent stop in Rochdale, Dale described Littleborough as a “huge village” with “a brilliant mix of pubs, friendly people, and stunning countryside views.” The visit was supported by The Moorcock Inn, and quickly earned high praise for its transformation under new owners, Blackstone.
“This glorious old country inn is something else,” Dale wrote. “The food is next level, the staff are lovely, and the views from the garden are to die for. A chef surely on his way to a Michelin Star if he keeps this up!”
From there, Dale set off to explore the rest of Littleborough’s pubs, beginning with The Summit Inn, a traditional Thwaites pub full of character, before visiting the King William IV, dating back to 1792, and boasting “amazing views from its beer garden.”
Next on the route was the Hare on the Hill, praised for its impressive range of independent keg beers, followed closely by the Dyers Arms, which Dale described as a “community local” with “a nice vibe” and friendly service.
His tour through the centre of the village included stops at The Royal Exchange, The Queens, and The Wheatsheaf - the latter he felt was “a gorgeous old building that deserves more investment.” He also dropped into The Falcon Inn, Grape N Grain, and The Cherry Tree, a modern first-floor bar that Dale called “a great new addition to the area.”
The final stop was the Red Lion, which he described as “an absolute masterpiece of a pub - old, quirky, and full of trinkets that make you feel like you’ve gone to Grandma’s for the day.”
After completing the circuit, Dale made the uphill return to The Moorcock for dinner, rounding off his Littleborough experience with a lamb rump he said was “utterly fabulous.”
“Cheers Littleborough, it’s been a brilliant day!” he concluded.
