Littleborough became a sea of pink last month for the annual window-display trail event, LittlePINKborough, organised by the local community group Re‑Use Littleborough. The initiative invited shops throughout the town to dress their windows in pink to raise awareness of breast cancer and engage the community.

The event was previously run by the charitable trio of friends under the banner of Three Amigos Fundraising Group, but this year the stewardship passed to Re-Use Littleborough, the volunteer-driven reuse and recycling network.

From jewellers to cafés, gift shops to hair-dressers, around 30 businesses took part in the window-dressing challenge on Littleborough's shopping streets. Many embraced the theme of October’s breast-cancer awareness month, using pink ribbons, fairy lights, inflatables and silhouettes of people affected by the disease.

The official judging, carried out on 27 October by Janet Emsley, Mayor of Rochdale, took place in the afternoon. The winner of the “Best Window” award was the team at KRS Aesthetics on Church Street for their Halloween inspired design.
