The Beach pub is opening its doors to the community in a new way, with General Manager Georgia inviting local groups, clubs and organisers to make free use of the pub’s function room.

Georgia, who has spent recent months clearing, repairing and reorganising the venue, says she wants the space to become a hub for local activity.

“I want to give a little back into the community by at least giving a safe, free space,” she said. “Anyone wanting to organise youth groups, classes, book clubs, mental health groups - anything of the sort - is welcome to use the function room free of charge.”

Although the pub is expected to move to tenancy/lease in the coming months, Georgia says she is committed to putting positive things in place now to help secure the pub’s future.

The function room is currently undergoing cosmetic improvements, with further work planned once the pub’s front and backyard projects are completed. Anyone interested in using the space can email m6280@greeneking.co.uk.

Alongside the room offer, The Beach is planning a range of community‑friendly activities over the summer, including:

  • Kids’ craft sessions and face painting
  • Local car boot mornings
  • Trial weekend buffet breakfasts
  • Karaoke and quiz nights

Georgia is also asking residents what they would most like to see, saying she would rather focus her energy on events the community genuinely wants.

The pub is also appealing for chefs or kitchen assistants, even part‑time, to support the small team currently working long hours to keep food service running.

“My team works incredibly hard every single day,” Georgia said. “I want to make sure they can rest more, and we don’t want to stop doing food.”
