Danny Dearden, the talented singer from Littleborough who captured hearts during his 2014 appearance on The X Factor, has tragically passed away at the age of 34.

Dearden rose to prominence when he impressed judge Mel B with his rendition of Brownstone's "If You Love Me," securing a spot in her final six. Although he did not advance to the live finals, his performances left a lasting impression on both judges and viewers.

News of his passing was announced by his agent, Denise Beighton, who expressed her heartbreak on Instagram, stating, "Heartbroken to wake up to the news that you're gone. I have no words right now. Rest easy beautiful boy."

Tributes have poured in from friends, colleagues, and local establishments. John McDermott, a past collaborator, remembered Dearden as a "great friend and such a talented artist." The Dyers Arms pub is hosting a gathering to honour his memory, inviting the community to raise a glass in his name.

Dearden had previously shared on social media about health challenges, noting in December 2023 that the NHS had saved his life during a difficult period.

The cause of death is not yet known.  Our thoughts are with Danny's friends and family at this very sad time.
