New Traffic Calming Measures Installed in Hare Hill Park

New traffic‑calming measures have been installed along the main access road through Hare Hill Park, Littleborough, as part of a Pennines Township-funded safety initiative.

The improvements include new speed bumps and updated road signage, all designed to reduce the risk posed by drivers attempting to cut through the park at unsafe speeds. According to Rochdale Council, the aim is to create a safer environment for park users of all ages, particularly during busy periods and community events. 

Early reaction has been mixed. Some residents welcome the changes as a necessary step to protect families and dog walkers, while others question whether speed bumps alone will deter irresponsible drivers. Several locals have also suggested that similar measures may be needed on other roads where speeding has been a long‑standing concern. 

The council says the upgrades form part of its ongoing commitment to improving safety across the area, with further assessments planned as feedback comes in from park users.
