Littleborough to Unite for Remembrance Sunday Service

Littleborough will come together this Sunday, 9 November, to honour the service and sacrifices of the Armed Forces at the annual Remembrance Day service.

The day begins with the parade assembling at Hare Hill Park at 10.15am, before setting off at 10.30am towards the Littleborough War Memorial, where the Service of Remembrance will begin at 10.55am. The parade will return to Hare Hill Park at approximately 11.35am.

Led by Rev Gill Barnett, the service will include hymns such as O God, Our Help in Ages Past and Abide With Me, along with readings, prayers, and the traditional Act of Remembrance featuring the Last Post, a two-minute silence, and the laying of wreaths at the Cenotaph.

The Royal British Legion is coordinating the service alongside Rochdale Borough Council, ensuring that the event honours all who have served - from past world wars to more recent conflicts. The service also reflects on those who continue to face the consequences of war and the ongoing efforts of today’s Armed Forces to protect freedom and peace.

Members of the public are invited to attend and join in the community’s act of remembrance.

As the Order of Service concludes, the congregation will sing the National Anthem, followed by closing words and a blessing.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning – we will remember them.
