Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club is celebrating an exciting start to the 2026 season after taking delivery of a brand-new fleet of training boats.

The club officially launched its new RS Sailing Zest fleet on Sunday 8th March, marking a major investment in the future of sailing at Hollingworth Lake. The project has been made possible thanks to the support of members and funding from Sport England.

Despite light winds of just 0–1 knots on the day, the celebrations went ahead in high spirits. Five of the six new boats made it onto the water, with younger members among the first to take advantage of the upgraded fleet.

The launch created a real buzz around the club, with sailors of all ages enjoying time both on and off the water. In a fitting nod to International Women's Day, seven female sailors were out on the lake during the event.

Club representatives expressed their gratitude to everyone involved in bringing the project to life, highlighting the importance of the new boats in supporting training and encouraging more people to get involved in sailing.

The new fleet is expected to play a key role in the club’s upcoming Learn to Sail programme. Anyone interested in taking to the water this spring is encouraged to get in touch via training@hlsc.org.uk

With a fresh fleet and a full season ahead, 2026 is shaping up to be an exciting year for sailing in Littleborough.
