Gas Works to Begin on Hollingworth Road for Three Weeks

Residents are being advised to expect delays from next week as Cadent begins a programme of essential gas works in the area.

The works are scheduled to start on Monday 22 June 2026 and are expected to run for approximately three weeks, according to a letter delivered to households this week.

Cadent says the project is necessary to maintain and upgrade the local gas network, ensuring long‑term reliability for homes and businesses in Littleborough.

To allow engineers to work safely, temporary two‑way traffic lights will be in operation throughout the duration of the works.

The signals will be positioned near the junction with Rakewood Road, a busy stretch used by commuters, school traffic and visitors heading towards Hollingworth Lake.

Cadent says the traffic management is essential to protect its workforce as well as motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.

The company acknowledges that the temporary signals may cause delays, particularly at peak times, but says every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.

A spokesperson from Cadent’s Customer Care Team thanked residents, businesses and road users in advance for their patience while the work is carried out.

Anyone with questions or concerns about the works can contact Cadent’s Customer Care Team on 0800 090 3071 or via email at CustomerCareNW@cadentgas.com.
