Strawberry Laces Boutique, a beloved fixture on Littleborough's retail scene, is set to close its physical doors for the final time today. Owner Donna Bushell announced the decision to transition the business to an online-only model, citing evolving shopping habits and the challenges of high street retail.

This isn't the first time the boutique has faced significant change. Strawberry Laces bravely navigated the economic turbulence of the COVID-19 pandemic, temporarily closing before successfully reopening in September 2021. Since then, Ms. Bushell has expanded the business, moving to a larger shop premises and launching a website, all while raising her family.

In a heartfelt social media post, Donna shared her reflections on the journey: "Over the years, I’ve poured my heart into this business and I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved. I kept Strawberry Laces going through Covid, adapted to working from home, moved from one shop to a bigger one, launched a website, and built something that’s grown with me."

The decision to move online comes as Ms. Bushell observes a significant shift in consumer behaviour. "Shopping patterns have changed - more people are turning to online shopping and looking for ways to save money where they can," she explained. "With quieter footfall in town and the rise of fast fashion giants like TikTok Shop and SHEIN, it’s clear the way we shop for fashion is evolving. It feels like the right time to adapt and move with the times."

While the physical shop will no longer be open, Strawberry Laces Boutique will continue to operate online, offering customers the convenience of shopping from home. Ms. Bushell also plans to host pop-up events and ladies' nights, ensuring she remains connected with her loyal customer base.

Looking ahead, Donna is also embracing a new venture as an independent travel agent, a move she describes as "the perfect time for a fresh start and to follow a new passion." She plans to take some time to reflect and enjoy the summer with her children before fully relaunching Strawberry Laces online.

"Thank you so much for your love and support - it truly means the world to me," Donna concluded in her announcement. "Here’s to new adventures, both online and beyond!"
