Littleborough passengers are set to face severe travel disruption later this week as bus drivers across Greater Manchester take industrial action.

The strike will run from Friday 19 September to Monday 22 September, with major operators including First, Metroline and Stagecoach affected. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has confirmed that around two-thirds of bus services will not operate during the walkout.

For Littleborough, the impact will be immediate and significant. The following services will not run at all during the strike period:

  • 455 – Rochdale – Milnrow – Littleborough – Stansfield
  • 456 – Littleborough – Rochdale
  • 457 – Littleborough – Shore – Rochdale
  • 458 – Rochdale – Littleborough
This means many of the core links between Littleborough, Rochdale and nearby communities will be unavailable for the duration of the action.

Train services on the Calder Valley line between Littleborough, Rochdale and Manchester are unaffected and will run as normal.

Metrolink trams are also not involved in the dispute and remain an option for onward travel once in Rochdale or Manchester.

TfGM has confirmed that valid bus tickets and passes will be accepted on trams during strike days.

TfGM is urging people who rely on the affected services to plan ahead, check live updates before travelling, and allow extra time for their journeys. Roads and alternative public transport are expected to be much busier than usual.
