Littleborough Comes Together for Remembrance Sunday
The community gathered in solemn reflection on Sunday, 9 November, to honour the courage and sacrifice of the Armed Forces at the annual Remembrance Sunday service.
The morning began with the parade assembling at Hare Hill Park before making its way through the town to the Littleborough War Memorial. The procession was a proud display of community spirit, featuring children from the Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, along with members of Littleborough Rugby Club, the Police, Fire Service, and Armed Forces veterans.
The Service of Remembrance was led by Rev Gill Barnett and included traditional hymns O God, Our Help in Ages Past and Abide With Me. Readings, prayers and the Act of Remembrance followed, featuring the Last Post, a two-minute silence, and the laying of wreaths at the Cenotaph in tribute to those who lost their lives in service.
The event was organised by the Royal British Legion in partnership with Rochdale Borough Council, with many residents lining the route and gathering at the memorial to pay their respects.
As the ceremony drew to a close, the crowd joined in singing the National Anthem before Rev Barnett offered a blessing to conclude the proceedings.
