Much-Loved Dearnley Gift Shop to Close After 21 Years
A long-standing independent shop in Dearnley is set to close its doors at the end of January, bringing an end to more than two decades of trading in the heart of the Littleborough community.
Little Gift Box, which has been serving customers for 21 years, will close permanently on 31 January. The decision follows the retirement of co-owner Susan with Clare planning to move on to new ventures.
The shop has become a familiar and much-loved presence in the area, known for its carefully curated range of gifts, cards and homeware and for the personal service that kept customers returning year after year.
In a message shared on social media, Susan and Clare thanked customers for their loyalty and friendship over the years, describing the business as “part of the community” and saying how much they had enjoyed helping people find the perfect gift for loved ones.
To mark the closure, Little Gift Box is holding a closing-down sale starting Saturday 3 January at 10am, with discounts ranging from 35% to 75% off everything in store. Customers are advised to be quick, as once items are gone, they will not be restocked.
Although the shop stopped selling gift vouchers earlier this year, all existing vouchers, including those from previous years, will continue to be honoured until the final day of trading. Vouchers can also be used on any bargains promoted via the shop’s Facebook page, which will remain active.
The announcement has prompted an outpouring of affection from customers, many sharing memories of shopping at Little Gift Box for special occasions and praising the warm welcome they always received.
Susan and Clare say they would love to see customers “one last time” before the doors close for good, thanking the community for 21 “amazing, successful years” and the support that made the shop such a fixture in Dearnley.
