Road Closure on Whitelees Road for Emergency Water Repairs

Residents are being advised of emergency highway works taking place on Whitelees Road, from Tuesday 3 March to Friday 6 March 2026.

The works are being carried out by United Utilities to repair a leaking water service located within the carriageway.

To ensure the safety of both workers and road users, a temporary road closure is in place. A clearly signed diversion route has been set up while repairs are completed.

This may cause some disruption, particularly for those living, working or travelling through the area. United Utilities have been advised to liaise directly with:

  • Local residents
  • Nearby businesses
  • Local schools
  • Littleborough Fire Station

This is to help minimise disruption and allow deliveries and access arrangements to be planned where needed.

The works have been duration challenged and are expected to be completed by Wednesday 4 March, although traffic management may remain in place until Friday 6 March if required.

Any residents experiencing issues relating to the works should contact United Utilities directly via their website.
