Two Littleborough Fighters Crowned North West Champions

Littleborough Amateur Boxing Club enjoyed a standout weekend as Paulo da Mata and Oliver Kapalka both claimed North West regional titles at the Audley Sports Centre, Blackburn, on Saturday 26th September 2026.

Paulo secured the Senior North West Under‑90kg Title, delivering another dominant performance with a second‑round stoppage against Coogan Pattinson of Carlisle Boxing Club. This follows his first‑round stoppage win in last week’s semi‑final, marking two consecutive stoppage victories on his route to the regional crown.

Oliver produced a composed and disciplined display to win the Junior North West Under‑75kg Title, defeating Ivan Winder of Coastal Boxing Club (Morecambe) by unanimous decision. Judges praised his control of the bout and ringcraft across all rounds.

These victories mean both fighters now progress to the national knockout stages, where the North West champions face the winners from Yorkshire next weekend. Success there would move them further along the ladder toward the ultimate prize - the English Title.

Littleborough Amateur Boxing Club described the results as “a huge achievement for both lads and a proud moment for the club,” highlighting the dedication shown by Paulo and Oliver throughout the competition.
