Councillors Step In After Mud Concerns on Hollingworth Road

Local councillors have intervened following growing frustration about mud and debris being spread across Hollingworth Road, Lake Bank and Milnrow Road, reportedly caused by ongoing works at the Bloor Homes development.

After residents raised concerns earlier in the week, councillors contacted the developer and pushed for immediate action ahead of the bank holiday weekend. As a result, road cleaning was carried out - but residents say the problem has continued.

According to the councillors, Bloor Homes has now agreed to:

  • Install wheel‑washing facilities on site from today.

  • Operate a street sweeper throughout the day to keep surrounding roads clear

  • Meet directly with councillors to hear residents’ concerns and provide reassurances

The councillors say they are pressing the developer to be “conscientious and respectful of our community” as construction continues.

Comments from locals highlight the scale of the issue:

  • Sludge on cars, windows and porches, with some residents cleaning multiple times a day

  • Safety concerns about lorries travelling at speed and reduced visibility near the car park entrance

  • Blocked gullies and emerging potholes

  • Calls for regular resident meetings, clearer contact routes, and accountability for ongoing disruption

Some residents also questioned whether both Bloor Homes and Bovis should be responsible for the mess, given activity from both developers in the area.

Councillors say they will continue to monitor the situation closely and are asking residents to report any further issues directly so they can act quickly.

“We need your help to keep on top of this developer… please contact us every time you see a problem coming from this site.”, posted Cllr Tom Besford.

Residents noticing mud, debris, unsafe driving or other concerns linked to the development are encouraged to contact the councillors so issues can be escalated immediately.
