Children Enjoy Calming Wellness Spa Experience at Railway House Nursery
The nursery was transformed into a peaceful spa environment, complete with soft lighting and gentle aromas that filled the room. The aim was to offer children a space where they could slow down, relax and simply enjoy being in the moment.
As part of the experience, children were invited to choose their own role within the spa. Some opted to enjoy soothing treatments, while others confidently took on the role of practitioners, offering care and relaxation to their friends. This sparked thoughtful conversations about what makes us feel happy, how we can look after our bodies, and the different ways we can help ourselves and others feel calm.
Lavender foot massages proved especially popular, while the tickly sensory tools led to plenty of laughter and joyful squeals.
Although the session appeared to be simple play, it was rich in learning and development. Children explored communication and language, empathy, nurturing behaviours, confidence, role play, sensory discovery and emotional wellbeing. The atmosphere throughout was calm, purposeful and full of gentle joy.
The nursery described the experience as a reminder of the importance of creating moments of wonder, connection and care in early childhood - moments that help children feel grounded, supported and truly seen.
