A property on Church Street has been served with an official Closure Notice by Rochdale Borough Council following concerns about nuisance and disorder linked to its use.

The notice, issued under the Anti‑social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 (Part 4, Section 76), was fixed to the door of Boro General Store on Church Street today.

According to the Council, the action was taken because the premises have either caused, or are likely to cause, nuisance to members of the public, and/or there has been disorder associated with the address.

Access to the property is now prohibited to all persons, except those authorised by the Council.

Rochdale Borough Council has confirmed that it will apply for a full Closure Order at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on 27th May 2026.  If granted, a Closure Order can restrict access to the premises for up to three months, with the possibility of extension.

Anyone entering or remaining on the property without a reasonable excuse now risks up to three months’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.

Closure Notices are typically used only when other interventions have failed or when immediate action is required to protect the public.
