Dearnley Spiritual Society Raises Over £350 as Community Rallies Behind Its Reopening

Dearnley Spiritual Society has taken a major step toward its long‑awaited reopening, after a warm and well‑supported fundraising event brought in over £350 in much‑needed funds. The day marked a significant moment for the Society, which is preparing to reopen under new stewardship after a period of closure.

New Trustees and Managers, Ian and Jan Maunsell, described the atmosphere as uplifting and deeply encouraging, with a steady flow of visitors eager to reconnect with a building that has played a meaningful role in many local families’ lives. Stories of past services, family connections, and memories of the Society were shared throughout the day, creating a sense of continuity it prepares for its next chapter.

Ian and Jan said they were “overwhelmed by the love and support” shown by everyone who attended. Many visitors purchased sunflowers as part of the day’s activities, helping boost the fundraising total and adding a fun, symbolic touch to the event.

With the fundraising milestone reached, only a few final jobs remain before the Society can hold its first service under new stewardship. The team emphasised their commitment to serving the Society and ensuring the building continues to hold its place at the heart of the community for many years to come.
