Community Protection Notice Issued to Littleborough Garage

A garage in Littleborough has been issued with a Community Protection Notice (CPN) by Rochdale Borough Council under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

The notice, issued to One Stop Auto Repair and Sales Limited on Calderbrook Road/Shore Road, states that the council believes the business has engaged in “persistent and/or continuing unreasonable conduct” that has had “a detrimental effect on the quality of life of those living in the locality”.

According to the notice, the business must immediately comply with a number of conditions intended to reduce the impact of its activities on the surrounding community.

The requirements include ensuring that any vehicles in the company’s possession for repair, scrappage or other purposes are parked lawfully and clearly display number plates.

The notice also states that all business activities must be carried out within the boundaries of the company’s property.

Additional conditions prohibit:

  • intimidating or threatening behaviour towards members of the public;
  • insulting or threatening language towards residents who request vehicles be moved to allow highway access;
  • spray painting or carrying out vehicle repair activities on the highway;
  • storing vehicle parts or waste in the open air;
  • disposing of waste materials into highway gullies or drainage points.

Each condition is listed as taking effect immediately.

The notice warns that failure to comply without reasonable excuse could lead to prosecution and a fine of up to £2,500. The court could also order further action to ensure compliance, including requiring specified work to be carried out or permitting the seizure of items linked to breaches of the notice.
