Illegal Goods Seized as Police and Trading Standards Carry Out Shop Checks in Milnrow & Littleborough
A joint operation between the Rochdale Neighbourhood Policing Team and Trading Standards has led to the seizure of hundreds of unsafe and illegal items from local shops across Milnrow and Littleborough.
Officers carried out compliance checks at three premises, focusing on issues including the illegal sale of alcohol and vapes to under‑18s, counterfeit goods, and unsafe or illegally imported foods and toys.
During the visits, the team seized:
202 unsafe toys
16 non‑compliant food items
3 pairs of counterfeit Apple AirPods
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to protect young people and ensure local retailers are trading responsibly. Police say these checks will continue regularly to prevent the sale of dangerous or illegal products in the community.
In a statement, the Rochdale Neighbourhood Team thanked residents for their continued support and reaffirmed their commitment to keeping local shops safe and compliant.
