Roadworks on Todmorden Road
Residents and road users in Littleborough are being advised to expect disruption next week as essential works take place on Todmorden Road, between Reddyshore Brow and Elim Street.
The works, scheduled to begin on Monday 7 September, form part of ongoing activity linked to the Littleborough Flood Risk Management Scheme (FRMS). BT/Openreach will be carrying out diversion works to relocate existing telecommunications services in the area.
To allow engineers to work safely, a temporary traffic management system will be in operation for approximately five days. This will include:
- Single‑lane closure along the affected stretch of Todmorden Road
- Temporary footpath diversion for pedestrians
- Clearly signed routes for both road users and pedestrians
Motorists should expect delays, particularly at peak times, and are encouraged to plan journeys accordingly.
The diversion of telecoms infrastructure is required to enable new access arrangements for future maintenance of the flood storage reservoir being constructed as part of the FRMS. These works are a necessary step in preparing the area for long‑term flood resilience improvements.
BT/Openreach will manage the works and will communicate directly with affected residents regarding planned activities, access arrangements and any temporary impacts.
During the five‑day period, residents and road users may notice changes to the usual layout of the road and footpaths. Signage will be in place throughout to guide people safely around the works.
