Arctic Ascent 2026: An Epic Norway Charity Ride

A team of three long‑time friends, Tim Fairley Tim Knight and David Kennedy,  are preparing to take on an extraordinary new challenge in June: a 900‑mile cycling journey through the length of Norway, finishing at the edge of the Arctic Circle.

The Arctic Ascent 2026 follows their hugely successful Lake to Lake Challenge, which raised over £100,000. After a two‑year break, the trio are back with a route that is described as “bigger and tougher than ever”.

The challenge begins on 7 June 2026, departing from the headquarters of NorDan, the parent company of Littleborough's PDS Doorsets and main event sponsor, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary. From there, the riders will head north, calling in at NorDan sites in Otta and Trondheim before pushing on through steep, mountainous terrain toward Bodø, where they aim to arrive on 16 June.

Although the distance is slightly shorter than their previous challenge, the climb is significantly more demanding, with around 50,000–60,000 feet of vertical ascent in just 10 days.

The ride is dedicated to the memory of their friend Simon “Teddy” Taylor, whose photo appears on the official event poster.

All funds raised will be split equally between:

  • British Heart Foundation
  • Springhill Hospice, Rochdale

The challenge is entirely self‑funded, ensuring that every penny donated goes directly to the charities. The team hopes the community will once again rally behind them as they aim to surpass their previous fundraising total.
