Holy Trinity Reception Class Takes Off on an Airport Adventure
Reception pupils from Holy Trinity CE Primary School rounded off the last week of half term with an exciting trip to Manchester Airport, bringing their transport topic “Trains, Planes and Other Things That Go!” to life in spectacular fashion.
The children spent the day exploring the airport’s education facilities, beginning with a rare chance to climb aboard an old Monarch aircraft. Once inside, they were able to sit in the captain’s seat, examine the cockpit controls, and even dress up as different airport workers while learning about the many roles that keep an airport running smoothly.
A highlight of the visit was seeing the world‑famous Concorde up close from outside its hangar - a moment that left many of the children wide‑eyed with excitement. There was also plenty of time for plane spotting, including the unforgettable sight of an Emirates Airbus touching down right in front of the group.
The adventure continued with a play in the airport park before everyone headed back to school - passports sadly forgotten, meaning no international departures this time.
Staff described the day as both fun and educational, with pupils returning full of new knowledge and enthusiasm.
Holy Trinity extended a heartfelt thank you to parent helpers Mrs Marsden and Mrs Fenton, as well as Miss Hartley and Jackson, for supporting the trip and helping to make the experience so memorable.
Reception now looks forward to “flying into” their final half term of the year, inspired by a day they won’t soon forget.
