Arctic Ascent Team Raises Extraordinary £131,000
The Arctic Ascent team have announced a remarkable final fundraising total following their emotional and ambitious charity ride to the Arctic Circle earlier this summer. What began as a tribute to their dear friend, Simon Teddy Taylor, has become one of the most successful local fundraising efforts in recent memory - raising an astonishing £131,000 for the British Heart Foundation and Springhill Hospice.
In June, Tim Fairley, Tim Knight and David Kennedy completed their epic 900‑mile cycling journey through the length of Norway, finishing at the edge of the Arctic Circle. They battled challenging terrain and unpredictable weather, all in Simon’s memory and in support of two charities close to the hearts of everyone involved.
Although the Arctic Ascent donation page has now officially closed, the team shared their pride and gratitude as they revealed the final total this week. Speaking about the achievement, they said they were “unbelievably proud” of what had been accomplished and “so grateful for all the donations from our incredible supporters.”
The team visited Springhill Hospice earlier this week to present the cheque to representatives from both charities - a moment described as deeply moving and a fitting conclusion to a journey defined by friendship, remembrance, and community spirit.
The funds raised will support vital research, care, and services delivered by the British Heart Foundation and Springhill Hospice, ensuring Simon’s legacy continues to make a meaningful difference to others.
