Local Business Speaks Out After Sudden Facebook Suspension
New England Sofa Design, a local furniture maker with more than 40 years of history, has spoken publicly about a frustrating ordeal that has left their business scrambling to stay connected with customers.
On 26 December 2025, the company’s Facebook page was suddenly suspended for alleged community guideline violations. According to the owners, no explanation was provided - no specific rule, no flagged post, and no option to appeal. After months of trying to get answers, they were recently told they must wait another three months to find out whether the page will be restored or permanently removed.
In the meantime, they’ve had to start again from scratch. Their original page had around 2,500 followers; the new one currently sits at just 35.
“It’s been incredibly stressful,” they told LittleboroughLocal. “We’ve spent months trying to get information from Facebook, only to be met with automated scripts and instructions to wait indefinitely. We’ve also heard from other small businesses who’ve gone through the same thing.”
For a small, long‑established business, losing access to its main communication channel overnight has real‑world consequences - fewer enquiries, reduced visibility, and the emotional strain of feeling powerless against a platform that offers no human support.
Their experience highlights a growing issue for independent businesses: the risks of relying on a single social media platform to reach customers.
