Littleborough GP Practices Launch Extended Opening Hours Service

Residents across Littleborough and the surrounding Pennines area are being reminded that local GP practices are now offering extended opening hours, giving patients greater flexibility when booking appointments outside of the traditional working day.

The extended access service is being delivered jointly by six practices within the Pennines Primary Care Network (PCN): Littleborough Group Practice, Pennine Surgery, Trinity Medical Centre and The Village Medical Centre along with Milnrow Village Practice and Stonefield Street Surgery,.

Under the scheme, appointments are available between 6.30pm and 8pm from Monday to Friday, as well as 9am to 5pm on Saturdays, helping patients who may struggle to attend during normal surgery hours.

Appointments take place at different locations during the week:

  • Monday and Tuesday: Milnrow & Newhey Medical Centre
  • Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: Littleborough Health Centre
  • Saturday: Alternate weeks between Littleborough and Milnrow & Newhey medical centres

The service offers access to a range of healthcare professionals, including GPs, practice nurses, nursing associates, healthcare assistants and phlebotomists.

Patients needing an appointment are advised to contact their own GP practice, which will arrange access to the extended hours service if appropriate.

The Pennines PCN says the aim of the scheme is to improve access to healthcare, provide more choice for patients and reduce the need for people to travel further afield for evening and weekend appointments.

A spokesperson said: “Your health doesn’t stick to office hours and now, neither do we.”
