Plant Sale Raises £2k for Springhill Hospice
Bridge Centre in Smithy Bridge was buzzing with colour, conversation and community spirit last Saturday as residents turned out in force for the centre’s annual Plant Sale, raising an impressive £2,144 for Springhill Hospice.
Organisers described the morning as one of their most successful yet, with visitors “coming, seeing, and buying lots of plants” as the centre’s patio and indoor spaces filled with everything from bedding plants and perennials to herbs, shrubs and vegetable starters. Volunteers said the steady stream of customers didn’t let up, with many people returning home carrying armfuls of greenery.
Springhill Hospice, which provides vital palliative care and family support across Rochdale and the surrounding areas, will receive the full amount raised.
In a message of thanks, the Bridge Centre team praised the generosity of local residents, saying the funds were made possible by “wonderful people” whose purchases will now “grow wonderfully, wherever they are planted.”
