The Endurance Hub welcomed nine local women for a free Female Bike Maintenance Workshop last weekend and it proved to be an afternoon packed with learning, confidence-building, and plenty of practical skills.

Led by Paul and Isaac, the session began with a walkthrough of essential bike safety checks before moving into the workshop for hands-on practice.

Attendees were shown how to:
  • Remove and refit a rear wheel
  • Take a tyre off and refit it without tyre levers
  • Repair a puncture
  • Deal with a snapped chain
  • Carry out a range of other useful on-the-go fixes
The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, with everyone encouraged to ask questions, try new techniques, and get stuck in. By the end of the session, the group left feeling more confident about maintaining their bikes and handling common issues out on the road or trail.

The Endurance Hub says more workshops and community events are on the way and they’re keen to hear what local riders would like to see next. Ideas on the table include:
  • Additional maintenance classes
  • Beginner group rides
  • Ladies-only rides
  • Puncture repair evenings
  • Indoor training or Zwift sessions
  • Bike cleaning workshops

Residents are invited to share their suggestions and help shape future events.
